Competition Rules
The races are conducted in accordance with the 2011 rules and regulations set forth by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF), and the rules and regulations set forth for this event.
Course
(1) Marathon
Start: Kobe City Municipal Office.
Turning point: Foot of the Akaishi-Kaikyo Bridge (near Maiko Park).
Finish: Port Island (near Shimin Hiroba).
Course certified by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) (application pending)

(2) Quarter marathon
Start: Kobe City Municipal Office.
Finish: Sumaura Park

※1 Please refrain from applying both as an individual and as a team member.
※2 Team entry applications can only be made via the Internet.
※3 Includes disabled entrants (those carrying disability cards) and entrants residing overseas. ※4 Time limits are based on signal gun time.
※5 Cut-off times are set at each checkpoint due to the limited duration of traffic control, security, and event operation. Athletes who arrive at a checkpoint well behind the cut-off time will be disqualified.
※6 1% of the entry fee will be donated to the Kobe Marathon Friendship Bank.
※7 Those seeking a charity bib must provide an additional ¥500 separate from the entry fee. JAAF-registered athletes are not permitted to wear a charity bib.

Awards
◆ Marathon
(1) Awards will be presented to the top eight men and the top eight women runners.
(2) Awards will be presented to the top three men and the top three women runners for each five-year age group (excluding recipients of the awards in (1) above). Certificates will be mailed at a later date.
◆ Quarter marathon
No awards will be presented for the quarter marathon.
Qualifications
◆ Marathon
Athletes born on or before April 1, 1993
(1) Registered athletes: Athletes registered with the Japan Association of Athletics Federations
(2) General runners: Athletes not registered with the Japan Association of Athletics Federations
* Categories (1) and (2) are both open to men and women (including those from Japan and abroad recommended by the organizers) capable of completing the race within 6 hours, 40 minutes.
* This event is limited to non-wheelchair users.
* Those with disabilities (holders of disability cards) who would have difficulty competing alone may designate one escort runner. (Runners may not be accompanied by a seeing eye dog.)
◆ Quarter marathon
Athletes born on or before April 1, 1996
General runners: Open to men and women capable of completing the race within 1 hour, 30 minutes.
* This event is limited to non-wheelchair users.
* Those with disabilities (holders of disability cards) who would have difficulty competing alone may designate one escort runner. (Runners may not be accompanied by a seeing eye dog.)
* Because the quarter marathon is a “fun run,” entrants in this event will start in the rear block.
Check in
(1) Dates: Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19, 2011
(2) Place: Kobe Marathon Expo 2011 venue (Kobe International Exhibition Hall, No. 3 Building)
(3) Time: 10:00 – 19:30 (tentative)

* Note that check-in will be closed on Marathon Day (November 20).
* Entrants may not check in outside the times stated above.
* At the time of check-in, the entrant’s identity will be confirmed by identification documents, etc. (the entrant must be present in person).
* Check-in will be refused if the entrant fails to show identification documents.
Personal Information
The organizers recognize the importance of entrants’ personal information and will handle it in accordance with laws and regulations relating to the protection of personal information based on the organizers’ personal information protection policy. Any personal information submitted will be used to provide participation guidelines, notices of records achieved and related information, services from Kobe Marathon sponsors, supporters, and related organizations, and for the announcement of records (including rankings) with the aim of improving service to entrants in this event.
*Note that the organizers or the Kobe Marathon Entry Center may use your personal information to contact you and confirm information related to your application.
Miscellaneous
  • Entry fees will not be refunded in the event the Kobe Marathon is cancelled due to reasons beyond the control of the organizers.
  • Entrants are expected to train sufficiently, receive a physical checkup, and otherwise be well prepared for the event.
  • The organizers will transport entrants’ baggage from start to finish locations. Arrival of hand luggage may be delayed because of traffic conditions.
  • The organizers will not be responsible for entrants tardiness due to public transport or road traffic conditions on marathon day.
  • At the event, including on the course, entrants are prohibited from wearing or displaying logos or trademarks representing a company or product name for the purpose of advertising.
  • The organizers may permit the commissioned sale of photographs and other approved products.
  • For event-related matters not covered above, please follow the instructions of the organizers.
  • Receipts for entry fees
    • Payment via credit card
    Receipts will not be issued. Entrants are asked to substitute the credit card company’s account or billing statement for an official receipt.
    • Payment via the dedicated money transfer form or a convenience store
 Receipts will not be issued. Entrants are asked to substitute the transaction receipt for an official receipt.
