Precautions for Event

  1. The event will be conducted in compliance with the 2025 regulations of World Athletics (WA), the rules of the Japan Association of Athletics Federations, and the rules of Kobe Marathon 2025.
    Because this is a WA Label race certified by the WA, WA Label Road Race regulations also apply. Doping tests will be carried out under WA regulations. 
  2. Check-in

    *At the time of check-in, the entrants' identification will be confirmed. (If you have a physical disability, be sure to bring your disability certificate (original).)
    *Substitute check-in is not acceptable.

    (2)Check-in of personal belongings

    November 16 (Sun.), 2025  7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
    Place: Please follow the route advised in Participant Information to check-in your personal belongings and line up at 
    your respective starting blocks.

  3. Athlete bibs and timing chips
    (1)Athlete bibs equipped with record-timing chips must be worn on the front.
    *Athletes registered with the Japan Association of Athletics Federations must wear their athlete bibs on the back as well.
    Charity athlete bibs cannot be worn.
    *Athletes who are not registered with the Japan Association of Athletics Federations and have applied for the Charity Athlete Bibs must wear the Athlete Bibs on the back as well.

    (2)After finishing the race, please remove your timing chip at the return station. (If chip is not returned, a fee will be charged.)

    (3)If you do not participate in the race after receiving your athlete bib on the check-in day, return your timing chip to the help desk.

    (4)If you dropped out during the race or you exited at a checkpoint, return your timing chip to a competition staff. If you suddenly become unable to run on the day of the race, return your timing chip to a competition staff before the end of the Competition.
  4. Changing area and personal belongings
    (1)Changing areas are provided in Kobe East Park (start point) and Minato no Mori Park (Earthquake Disaster Reconstruction Commemoration Park).

    (2)Please bring your personal belongings directly to the truck for checking in personal belongings at each block.Items that do not fit into a check-in bag cannot be accepted. (e.g., long umbrellas)

    (3)Checked-in items are returned, and Changing rooms are provided at the Mosaic Parking Lot or Kamomeria Parking Lot.

    (4)Valuables should be kept by participants themselves. 
  5. Awards Ceremony
    Date and time: November 16 (Sun.), 2025 1:00 p.m.

    Awardees: Overall (Gross time) top 8 men and top 8 women runners
  6. Warming up
    Warming-up exercise is allowed only at Kobe East Park (start point of the race), Minato no Mori Park (Earthquake Disaster Reconstruction Commemoration Park) and other places in traffic-restricted areas where traffics and pedestrians are not hindered. Warming-up outside the traffic-restricted areas is dangerous and therefore prohibited.

  7. Start time
    Participants in Waves 1 and 2 should gather at the designated block at 7:45-8:45 and 7:45-9:05, respectively. In the order of arrival, participants should move forward and line up. 
    *Please note that Wave 2 runners who started in Wave 1 race will be disqualified. 
  8. Distance signs
    Distance signs are placed every kilometer, and at the half-way point. From the last 5 km point, remaining distance will be displayed.

  10. Prohibition of receiving assistance
    Runners must not receive assistance in any form whatsoever during the race. 
    If, however, competition officials or medical personnel touch a runner for the purpose of checking their condition or confirming their safety, such act is not deemed to be assistance. 

  11. Traffic control
    Traffics will be restricted throughout the course. 

  12. Checkpoints
    Runners who have not passed through the checkpoints by the specified time are asked to promptly exit the race and
    get on the pickup bus in accordance with instructions of a competition staff.

  13. Picking-up of runner
    In the following case, a runner must exit the race and get on the pickup bus; 
    (1)When a runner dropped out from the race because he/she became unable to run, or an anomaly occurred during the race
    (2)When a runner was not able to pass through a checkpoint by its closing time
    (3)When a runner was ordered to exit the race by a competition official or medical staff.

  14. Instruction after finishing the race
    After finishing the race, participants should walk slowly as directed by Event staff, not standing still.

  15. Flash Report
    Runners who finish the race will be able to download using smart-phone, tablet and PC a flash report (in PDF form) containing the race record from RUNNET on and after the Competition Day (November 16 (Sun.)). Record can be searched by an athlete bib's number or runner's name. This flash report can be used for one week after the Competition (by November 24 (Mon.)).
    This is only a flash report. Please confirm official records by the WEB Certificate of Completion mentioned below.

  16. WEB Certificate of Competition
    Certificate of Completion can be downloaded from RUNNET.
    Please check the details to be published around mid-December on "NEWS" column of the Kobe Marathon 2025 Home Page. WEB Certificate of Completion can be output from a PC or smart phone for 2 years after the Competition.
    *If you cannot download, please contact Kobe Marathon 2025 Runner Call Center by December 22 (Mon.), 2025.

  17. Doping Control
    (1)This Competition is subject to in-competition doping test based on the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules and the World Anti-Doling Code, or the Japan Anti-Doping Code. In-competition doping tests are conducted from 23:59 on the day before the race until the end of testing, by collecting urine and/or blood sample. Those who are subject to the test should follow the instructions of the inspector and undergo the inspection.

    (2)An athlete subject to in-competition doping test must present a photo ID. Please bring a student ID card, employee ID card, driver's license, or a copy of passport with a clear facial photo.

    (3)Participants in this Competition shall be deemed to have agreed to be subject to doping test at the time of entry, in accordance with the Japan Anti-Doping Code.

    (4)Participants in the Competition must use the JADA Clean Sports Athlete Site (https://www/realshampion.jp) to learn about anti-doping beforehand.

    (5)If a participant refuses or evades the doping test (regardless of the type of sample such as urine or blood) to be conducted in this Competition, if he/she does not follow the instructions of the inspector, or if he/she does not complete the doping test procedure for any personal reason, such as return trip, he/she may be deemed to violate an anti-doping rule. Please note that the participant will be subject to sanctions based on the Japan Anti-Doping Code if he/she is judged to have violated an anti-doping rule. 

    (6)Please note that athletes who are subject to blood testing, whether in-competition testing or out-of-competition testing, may be required to rest for 2 hours after the race/exercise for the purpose of collecting blood sample.

    (7)For details about World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules, World Anti-Doping Code, Japan Anti-Doping Code, and doping tests, refer to the websites of World Athletics and Japan Anti-Doping Agency, beforehand.

  18. About TUE applications
    Athletes who are compelled to use prohibited substances or methods specified in the Prohibited List for the treatment of illness must apply for a "Therapeutic Use Exemption" (TUE). For more information, refer to the website of Japan Association of Athletics Federations Medical Committee (https://www.jaaf.orjp/about/resist/medical/) or the website of Japan Anti-Doping Agency (https://www.realshmpion.jp/resources/000162.html). If TUE is granted for the prohibited substance or method that the athlete use, submit a certificate (a copy thereof is acceptable) to the inspector in charge at the time of testing.

  19. Others
    (1)The Event organizers are not responsible for any illness and injuries occurred during the Event unless there is any intentional act or gross negligence on the part of the organizer.
    *Only first aid is provided

    (2)There are areas separated using green traffic cones for emergency vehicles. Although the road width of the course is narrow, be sure not to enter the emergency areas.

    (3)The Event organizer is not responsible for provision of water and food at other places than the designated points.

    (4)Please note that there are some steep curves along the course route. Also, be sure to check the signboards providing announcement information.

■Partnership Event
The Kobe Marathon 2025 is an affiliated event of "RUN as ONE―Tokyo Marathon." 
*Three runners will be nominated for the Tokyo Marathon 2027 among the category of general lottery. The eligible runners are the finisher of the Kobe Marathon 2025.
The expenses to participate in the Tokyo Marathon 2027 shall be borne by the participants.
